Wakamatsu Farm BioBlitz!

California is the most biodiverse state in the US and ranks among the most biodiverse regions in the entire world. ARC is joining the California Natural Resources Agency and 30x30 California to celebrate California Biodiversity Day by hosting a BioBlitz at Wakamatsu Farm—and we’d love for you to join us! 

What is a BioBlitz?

A BioBlitz is a participatory science event where people gather to document as many living species as possible in a specific area. We will be hiking the 1.5 mile lake loop at Wakamatsu Farm, and using the iNaturalist app to log the plants, animals, fungi, and other species we observe along the way. Then we’ll contribute our findings to the Find 30 Species for CA Biodiversity Day project. Ours is just one of many BioBlitzes happening throughout the week–see the interactive map for all events statewide. This is an incredible chance to get out in nature and stretch your legs, while also contributing to a larger goal. The data we collect will help inform the California 30x30 initiative to conserve 30% of California's lands and coastal waters by 2030.

To participate in this event, you will need to have the iNaturalist app installed on your mobile device. Please install the app and join the "Find 30 Species for CA Biodiversity Day 2026" project within iNaturalist prior to the event. And make sure your battery is fully charged!
