GOLD RUSH TREES WALK

John Kipping will lead this historical walk through the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park. He will share his knowledge of the numerous native tree species, which helped to sustain untold generations of Nisenan peoples. Since the 1840’s immigrants from the old world planted many favored trees as well, which have thrived in the Mediterranean climate. John is a certified arborist who operated a local tree service for 30 years. He has worked as a naturalist since age 14 at San Francisco’s Randall Museum, the San Francisco Botanical Gardens, and later at Marin County’s Audubon Canyon Ranch. He is a long-time river and natural history expeditions leader in the western states, Alaska, Baja California, New Zealand, and Galapagos.
