Description

If you enjoy exploring and learning about our local ecology, engaging in participatory science and sharing your knowledge with others, this program is for you! The 40 hour course combines a science curriculum with guest lecturers, field trips and project-based learning to explore the unique ecology and natural history of the Sierra Foothills. All classes will be available via Zoom with the option of attending in-person at the Education Center at Wakamatsu Farm near Coloma, CA. Three experiential field trips will be help on weekends and will take place around the Placerville foothills area. Geared towards adults ages 18+.

Meeting Days & Times: Ten classroom sessions in-person or via Zoom on Wednesdays, March 13– May 22, 2024. 4:00pm-6:30pm and three in-person, weekend field trips, 3/23, 4/28 and 5/11 (dates subject to change). Fee: $425 from Jan 3 - Feb 17 or $455 after Feb 17th. Registration fee includes the required text The California Naturalist Handbook (2013, UC Press; $35).
